About Us
Conserving Local Lands, Supporting Family Farms, and Sustaining Our Community.
San Benito Agricultural Land Trust (SBALT) proactively identifies, protects, and conserves regionally significant lands within San Benito County. By working closely with landowners, community partners, and local governments, SBALT safeguards the long-term viability of productive agriculture, ensuring these vital lands continue to nourish our communities.
Additionally, we strive to preserve natural open spaces, protect habitats and ecosystems, and maintain the distinctive rural character that makes San Benito County uniquely beautiful and culturally rich. Our efforts help ensure that future generations can continue to experience the economic benefits of working agricultural lands, the ecological value of protected habitats, and the tranquility and heritage of our county’s cherished rural lifestyle.

Our Vision
The San Benito Agricultural Land Trust envisions a San Benito County that supports a thriving agricultural economy, sustainable communities, and open space, and that honors and maintains its rural heritage. SBALT is the trusted, local institution to facilitate land conservation in San Benito County, foster conservation partnerships that benefit the county, and responsibly steward its property interests.

What We Do
The San Benito Agricultural Land Trust is dedicated to providing financial options to farmers and ranchers in order to protect the vibrant agricultural industry of San Benito County.
SBALT can protect land permanently and directly by accepting conservation easements designed to meet the individual needs of farmers and ranchers. As a non-profit, private, tax-exempt organization, SBALT is funded through public and private grants, services provided, and donations from individuals, like you.
